Time-Domain Extragalactic Survey (TiDES)

Rubin's spectroscopic counterpart

I am contributing to the spectroscopic follow-up of extragalactic optical transients and variable sources with the Time-Domain Extragalactic Survey (TiDES). Building on my experience with the OzDES survey in Australia, I work on TiDES, which encompasses three complementary sub-surveys:

  • Supernova Classification: Spectroscopic observations of supernova-like transients to enable precise classification and characterization.
  • Host Galaxy Studies: Comprehensive follow-up of transient host galaxies to measure redshifts for cosmological research applications.
  • AGN Monitoring: Repeat spectroscopic observations designed for reverberation mapping of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and supermassive black hole binary candidates.
